Purposeful Change and “Rising Wisely”

“What if this year of disruption were your wake-up call to try something different?”’

So writes Jeffrey Davis in his Psychology Today article entitled “How to Create Purposeful Change in Uncertain Times.”  It’s been tough enough to simply get by during the pandemic, let along find the time and energy to go above and beyond.  But, paradoxically, this might be the perfect time to initiate change and welcome opportunity.

I highly recommend these tips for (re)prioritizing your goals and (re)aligning them with what matters most to you.  I’ve found a sweet spot of “what if” practice for myself in recent months, and it’s been energizing.  In particular, interrogating my assumptions, “shoulds,” and other cognitive obstacles has brought to light possibilities I might never have thought possible.

Time to disrupt your old narrative.  Maybe you’re going the direction you want, maybe not.  Invest some deliberative, contemplative time in your dreams; otherwise, that’s all your dreams will ever be.
