Career Highlights: Creating Spaces for Learning
I love creating spaces for learning. We find ourselves when we find the edges of our knowledge and comfort. And when we push beyond those edges - with the right tools and support - we can flourish.
One way I’ve been able to create such spaces has been as a psychologist in the traditional therapy office. As a clinical associate at The Coche Center for over 10 years, I helped clients both one-on-one and in process groups map out new ways forward in their lives. I also developed a therapeutic approach to assessment, honing expertise in personality, intellectual, academic, and career measures that help clients find their hidden talents.
Another space where I’ve helped others learn has been in academia. As an academic advisor for 16 years at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, I empowered thousands of business students to make informed decisions on courses and career. With my background in psychology, I helped develop simulations to teach resilience, enhanced advising methods and structures, and collaborated with mental health experts to better support students. In my management roles, I learned first-hand the importance of principled leadership. The training, coaching, assessment, and other resources I undertook have significantly shaped my own work guiding emerging leaders and good-to-great teams.
Eventually, I took my passion for learning to the classroom itself. At Arcadia University, I taught teachers how to incorporate group dynamics and teamwork into their own pedagogy. Later, I adapted many of those same human relations principles to co-develop “Business and You,” the first of a four-part “Leadership Journey” requirement for Wharton undergraduates. I am thrilled that my business students learn many of the same lessons about emotional and interpersonal intelligence that I teach my clients.
Romeika Consulting extends my reach, allowing me to create spaces for growth wherever it’s needed the most. Clinical, educational, interpersonal, and organizational change management all intersect here. Clients in both the therapy office and their own places of work can benefit from the synthesis of knowledge and experience I offer. Let me create the right space for you, your team, or your firm to flourish.
Leveraging My Strengths For You
My own strengths and values inform how I engage with clients. As a curious observer, I am naturally drawn to learning about and honoring the experiences of others. I value the uniqueness of each client and strive to understand the idiosyncratic and cultural influences that shape them. Prudence and integrity are cornerstones of my work ethic. Leading authentically with my strengths, I am committed to creating a safe harbor for my clients in which they can be true to themselves, trusting of the process, and open to doing challenging but rewarding work.
Ethics and Integrity
As a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania, I am governed by the regulations, ethics, and best practices of the profession. This means applying the highest standards of care as outlined by the American Psychological Association. Membership in the American Psychological Association (since 2002) and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (since 1999) keeps me apprised of emerging science and policy matters. Whether counseling, teaching, or consulting, I strive to practice in a culturally competent and inclusive manner. Your trust, dignity, and safety are of paramount importance to me.
